Sue Trethowan-Jones

Sue Trethowan-Jones was born in Melbourne but moved to Geelong as a child. She has worked as a journalist for 25 years. She was the Women’s Editor of the Geelong newspaper for 20 years, and also the Fashion and Travel Editor. She has written for the Advertiser, News and Echo newspapers in Geelong, and The Age and Herald Sun in Melbourne. For two years she conducted the Sue Trethowan radio show on 3GL in Geelong. Sue has reported on Cup Day fashions for Channel 10 television, judged Fashions on the Field for the Geelong Cup for 18 years, and also Derby Day at Flemington, and has regularly compered fashion shows. When Sue moved to Melbourne in 1990, she opened the first Hat Exchange with her friend Jenny Ham. At the same time Gallerie D’Esterre was created, showcasing artistic wares in Chapel Street, Melbourne. After ten years of Hat Exchanges, the jewelery designs began.
Sue has a rich flair for life, and passion for people, Daisy and Gucci (her dogs), writing, reading, theatre, films, court networking (she is a volunteer at Frankston Court), and entertaining with themes. But for sheer joy, her Monday night open-house dinners for family and friends are right up there! Sue has been raising funds for more than thirty years through innovative events. In Melbourne, she and Ann Greenham formed a fund raising arm of the Ardoch Youth Foundation, for street kids. Later she and a small group began the Melbourne Cancerians. This book is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research.
