Jacqui L. Rennie

The late Dr Sandra Rennie was a remarkable woman who led an extraordinary life. She was regarded as a very private and independent individual with excellent capabilities and high intelligence. She achieved several university qualifications, including two Masters Degrees in Arts (Latrobe University, Melbourne) and Community Health (University of Liverpool, UK) respectively and a Doctorate in Social Anthropology from the Australian National University in Canberra. She also studied for Journalism Diploma in 1997.
Dr Rennie lived overseas for many years devoting much of her life to improving conditions for impoverished people in third world countries in many areas of their lives. She had freelance senior consultancy positions on the UK Overseas Development Agency and the Royal Netherlands Development Agency in Bangladesh and India. She also travelled in India as the Evaluation Officer for AIDAB, Canberra. She worked for the UNFPA (the United Nations Population Fund) as Adviser on Women, Population and Development in Bangkok, Indonesia, India and the Pacific Islands for four years, only leaving that role because of ill health.
