Robyn Robins

Robyn Robins is a professionally qualified holistic counsellor, yoga teacher, astrologer and published author, currently living in the Hinterland on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
As a holistic counsellor, yoga teacher, astrologer and author, Robyn's present profile is vastly different from the fairy-tale, societal expectations of the post-war era. Groomed to become a wife, mother and live happily ever after, surrounded by the rose garden and picket fence, she played the script with all her heart. The child who sat on the back-door step with her dog Whiskey, listening to the whispering voices of twinkling stars and dreaming a different dream, was no longer heard. Delving into religions and philosophies to satisfy an inner yearning was also forgotten.
Robyn played many scripts over time, and believes that she did so from the highest of intentions. Knocking on the door of closed hearts, she became a young mum suffering the loss of health and her dreams. However, it was during this time, yoga was introduced into her life and not only helped to cope with many challenges, but also presented a new and exciting way of thinking.
Yoga led to the exploration of other healing modalities, also spurred on by the loss of a child through mental health issues and addiction. Robyn's greatest joy in life was her three delightful children, she loved being a mother and all that it entailed. However, life changed in the twinkling of an eye for the single mum rearing three young children with little support. Her daughter, the first born child, slipped into another reality to walk a path strewn with alcohol, speed, heroine and madness. Child of the Universe, a memoir, is a testimony to this journey in the hope that in some small way it may help others whose lives are touched in a similar manner.
In 1989, a new life beckoned. Robyn moved to the Gold Coast where she created a beautiful, alternative gift shop which became a leader in bringing awareness to the general public of the benefits of holistic therapies. She particularly believed in and promoted the diversity of the human being and it was during this timeframe that the Citrine School of Yoga was founded. Embracing modalities such as Tibetan Kum Nye, her teaching led to a therapeutic style of yoga suitable for all levels of fitness and health. One yogic memory is of a student, suffering from cancer, who was carried to class until she entered hospital to pass over. 'She was one of my most treasured teachers,' said Robyn, maintaining that the qualities of gentleness, mindfulness and compassion are the foundation for her present day teaching, counselling and writing.
Robyn's passionate intent to bring healing to herself, to gain an understanding of the dynamics of illness and how tragedy plays out within the lives of the human being, led to further study. Today, she is a holistic counsellor, specialising in body-mind psychotherapy. Her main area of interest and expertise is artistic therapy, incorporating the powerful but gentle modalities of sand play, clay and colour.
Robyn believes she brings wisdom and knowledge to her clients and students through a personal journey of self-discovery and healing. The message she conveys through teaching, counselling and writing says, 'No matter what you are going through, never give up. Out of the darkness always comes a positive, believe in yourself and know that you can create a world of love, light and beauty.'
Robyn loves to paint and in the 1980's studied under Leonard Schultz, selling the odd painting in traditional oil. She writes stories for her grandchildren, the first to be published is called, Lockie Meets Wiroo, through Sid Harta Publications.
On a recent pilgrimage to Japan, Robyn fell in love with this beautiful country she called a soul memory, where she met many people who listened with the heart and wrote her Japan story, 'It Is An Art to Listen with the Heart.'
Robyn's intention is to inspire her clients to create a balanced lifestyle, resulting in physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wholeness to enable them to take the journey towards self-empowerment in order that they may reach their highest potential.

Testimonial

In the years 2010 and 2011, I published a children's book and a memoir through Sid Harta.
I found this journey to be fun, insightful and a great introductory learning in how to take a manuscript through the stages of editing, typesetting, cover design and printing to eventually hold a real book in my hands. At each step, my work was placed in the hands of caring, helpful professionals and I am thrilled with the end result."

Lockie Meets Wiroo

Lockie Meets Wiroo

Lockie was recovering from the steep climb to the forbidden cave when he fell into the crevice of the rock. Far below, his dad and brother, Bray, were building a campfire. The green tent, their home for the weekend, flapped in the gentle breeze. Read more about Lockie Meets Wiroo
