Margaret Reid

Margaret Reid is a sixty-seven year old music teacher living in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. Her interests and ambitions altered constantly over the years with the changing circumstances of her surroundings, beginning with a nursing career, followed by marriage, children, divorce and remarriage. As a younger person, many of her craft ideas were printed in the Family Circle magazine and she wrote an aid to teaching young children the violin called Ben’s Music Book which was printed and used by Glenbrook Public School where she taught the violin for fifteen years.
Under the Linden Tree is her masterpiece, you could call it a ‘labour of love.’ She researched and wrote this book to help her husband come to terms with his terrible life experiences in the hope that it would give him an identity, a sense of belonging somewhere, and bring some contentment into his older age.
Margaret’s spare time is devoted to the family and helping those in the community less fortunate than herself. She is especially passionate about the rights and welfare of women, children, the aged and disabled. She plays the violin in the Blue Mountains Orchestra as music remains the number one challenge to her fast approaching senior mind, followed closely by researching, writing, digital photography and computers.
