Kevin Leggett was born in North Yorkshire, England, in 1942, in an age when large Catholic families of eight children were not uncommon and although on the wane, poverty was prevalent. His studies were rewarded by an engineering scholarship to a technical college, followed by an apprenticeship with Imperial Chemical Industries, Billingham Division. There he graduated as an Instrument Artificer in 1963 and proceeded to carve a career and lifestyle far removed from his impoverished early beginnings. He is presently living in Kuranda, North Queensland, Australia.
