Ross Isaacson

Ross Isaacson was born in 1944 in the Riverland district at Waikerie on the River Murray in South Australia, and was his fathers gift to his mother after his return from a very short war service.
Ross attended schools in the local area, commencing his working life on the family fruit properties, was very active in community affairs in an effort to keep his mind occupied. He commenced his aviation life in a very modest way in gliding.
Not being content to pick fruit all his life, he somehow aimlessly wandered into a commercial aviation career that spanned 33 years.
Having now retired from commercial flying after nearly 18,000 hours flying, it’s time to recollect all those amusing, interesting and sometimes serious occasions that presented themselves during this time, and a few other interesting lighter moments along the way.
Ross coincidentally was born on a Thursday and the old ditty reads “Thursdays child has far to go”, so in distance, 18,000 hours works out to around 7.7 million kilometres, 165 times around the world or 10.1 times to the moon and back, so he has certainly gone the distance.
