Christine Duncan aka T.J. Arryn

A passionate reader of the fantasy genre, T.J.Arryn has spent some twenty years researching creatures of mythology, their origins, their habits and associated environments, and exploring several areas of interest including medieval society and their beliefs, psychology, psychic and supernatural experiences, the afterlife, as well as material that examines the defining of time and space.
She was born in Sydney, N.S.W. where she learned contemporary ballet, tap, modern dance, and acting through her school years. She has toured much of the Australian continent in pursuit of discovering not only the unique diversity of landscape and its native wildlife, but also for significant sites of Aboriginal and pioneering history.
Late 1994 saw the turning point of her literary talents when she made the decision to become a professional writer, and followed the course of many authors before her in investing immeasurable hours in learning, and perfecting, the craft.
T.J.Arryn has published a series of articles in regional newspapers, promoting current theatrical entertainment. She has hosted the Writer’s Program on local radio, and was president of the Mid North Coast’s Fellowship of Australian Writers’ association.
T.J.Arryn has been able to expand her inspirational dexterity from her associations in theatre, where she achieves notable recognition as actor, costume designer, as well as director.
“Thirteen… Unlucky for Some” is merely one story of a mounting collection written by this author, its conception founded in a play which she performed in 1998, involving thirteen cast members and a who-done-it theme. However T.J.Arryn departed swiftly from the plot of the stage, taking merely personality traits of the characters and the respective actors who animated them, along with the play’s sense of mystery, greed and death, to develop a tale of magical imagery and sweaty fear, involving thirteen creatures of a fantasy realm to unwittingly unite in a dragon’s cave.
She drew additional inspiration for the visual vibrancy of her characters and creatures from a collection of pictures, and from watching movies of the caliber of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Merlin, as well as past favourites like Never Ending Story and Legend.
She presently resides near Taree on the Mid North Coast of N.S.W.
