Kevin McGrath is Sydney born. In the early part of his life he became intensely interested in sports ? rugby, football and athletics. He won Eastern Suburbs Junior 880 Yards Championship in his first year out of school. At this time there was never a thought of becoming a writer. He took an Arts degree at Sydney University then taught English and History in several secondary schools. There was still no thought of a writing career. Only after he found a job as a television producer at the Australian Broadcating Commission did he began to write, in a very modest way, scripts for educational and documentary programs.
