Reg Mounsey was born in Bentleigh, Victoria in 1926. When his mother died, Reg was placed in a Methodist Babies and Children’s Home at three and a half years of age together with his two older brothers and younger sister. He was reared there under strict discipline and restricted freedom until he reached the age of thirteen when he and his brothers and sister returned to live with their father following his remarriage.
