William Jefferson Killmore was born in Kempsey on 13 August 1935 and lived most of his life in the Macleay Valley, in West Kempsey, New South Wales, Australia. He left school at fourteen to work in the painting trade and remained in the trade until retiring in 2000. During his apprenticeship he was conscripted into the Army to carry out National Service obligation. A keen sportsman, he played cricket, tennis and trained in judo and, in later years, cricket coaching. At age forty he took up distance running, completing sixty full (42.2km) marathons and still enjoys mountain biking and fishing. He carried the Olympic Torch through his home town in 2000. He joined the local writers' group at age seventy and caught the bug. He has written two books, The Valleys of Life and Almost Armageddon, and this is his third. Although not on the internet, he uses the computer to write.
