Bette Shiels lives on the outskirts of Bundaberg, in a rammed earth house that she and her husband designed and built by hand, in their late fifties. She is the mother of six children, has fostered twenty others, and is now a grandmother to seventeen. She has lived in every State in Australia over her forty-four years of marriage, following her husband’s Civil Construction career.
Her writing career began in 1990 and has been widely published in many magazines. She is a weekly columnist for New-Mail newspaper in Bundaberg, has won numerous short story competitions, and is an award winning Bush Poet and Creative Writing Tutor.
