Douglas Hoile served in the RAAF as a fighter pilot and later graduated in medicine, working as a GP in country and suburban South Australia. He was co-author, with Ann Lehtmets, of Sentence: Siberia, the widely acclaimed account of Ann’s survival of Stalin’s holocaust.
