In the 1400s, the Duke of York rewarded his steward, George Darcy, with a parcel of land in Derbyshire. This parcel of land came to be known as ‘Pemberley’.
Pemberley becomes home to generations of Darcys - down to the haughty Fitzwilliam Darcy. Fitzwilliam falls in love with the beautiful Elizabeth Bennet, who is far beneath his station, and has her own preconceptions about Mr Darcy. But the two contend for affection, facing problems of pride, and of prejudice, which threaten to undo their love.
Pemberley through the ages is a grand reinvention of Jane Austen’s Pride and prejudice, a sweeping saga that also explores the lineage of Mr Darcy, and looks at the generations who came afterward.
