On retirement, Catherine Skipper returned to university to pursue cinema studies. She reinvented herself as a reviewer of film, drama and most recently, of dance, as well as occasional curator of art exhibitions. Although she moved to Sydney to live with her daughter four years ago, Melbourne remains the city of her dreams.
Her greatest achievement is being a constant companion to the joyful Finnegan, a milky chocolate toy poodle, who brings happiness to many elderly, ailing and disadvantaged people. Suffering from anorexia and panic disorder for a greater part of her life, Catherine Skipper began her fictionalised biography as a way of 'disembedding' her memories of growing up in the 40s and renewing the future.
