Dennis Nelson is married and has six adult children. He lives in Australia on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Educated at Melbourne University, he was a former teacher who worked for a time in both Africa and South America. It was during his time in Africa, when the author lived amongst missionaries in western Tanzania, that Bagamoyo was conceived and the factual elements conspired to see this story written one day. Dennis has an interest in colonial history, and he has had a long connection with descendants of native Tanzanians who suffered terribly during the harsh years of firstly Arab and then German rule prior to the First World War.
