Ivy Edwards was born in Tumby Bay South Australia in 1935. She attended Ungarra primary school and then Port Lincoln High school. At high school, the noted author Colin Thiele was her mentor, helping and encouraging her to keep writing.
Ivy has been writing stories since she was six years old. She was a founding member of both Cummins and Tumby Bay Writer's groups and published many joint books of short stories.
Listed with the University of South Australia under the heading of Women writers of South Australia. A story written by her at ten years old was recently discovered in an old copy of the Chronicle. Two years ago Ivy self- published a book Bunyips and Dragons which has been very successful appealing to both adults and teenagers.
Before marriage she nursed at Cleve and Mount Gambier hospitals. She has six children, twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
