Brisbane-born in 1966, James Martin graduated with a Master's degree in German literature and philosophy from Melbourne University. He has devoted much leisure time to the study of chess, while developing a love for European languages, including French and Spanish. He has travelled widely throughout Australia, and now calls Melbourne home.
