Joe Deriu was born on the island of Sardinia, Italy. He spent his youth playing among the buildings, now ruins, built by the ancients and was fascinated by the ingenuity of such builders so long ago. Round, conical buildings of 15-20 metres high and almost just as wide of huge, unworked boulders fitted in a tight, precise manner to form such structures that had been up since the time of Stonehenge and the Pyramids.
oe explored the ancient's houses and the curiosity to know more about them never left him. In 1957, he migrated to Australia where he worked as a carpenter builder, learning the English language from his Australian mates at the building sites. He married Marisa and together brought up a family of two daughters, Laura and Susanna, and their son John.
Joe has read extensively any subject regarding prehistory in the development of the civilization of humankind. Now retired, he is trying to put his ideas into words of how it all began.
Joe's motto is an old saying: 'If you don't know from where you came, you cannot know where you are going'.
