Leone (pronounced as in Sierra Leone) Purdy was born in Warwick, Queensland. At 16 she won a partial scholarship to study journalism, but preferred to live life and look beyond study. Working overseas and travelling around Australia, she has done just that.
At age 59 she retired from work due to the rare medical condition, polymyositis. With lots of spare time, she started writing poetry for children and has found it to be very rewarding. This is her first poetry collection and is looking forward to her next one.
