Lindsay Gordon was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1938. His upbringing was in, what might be called, a reasonably liberal Christian environment. He reluctantly and spasmodically attended a Christian Sunday school in his early years and persevered secondary education at Wesley College, a private, Methodist school. During his school years he took a passing interest in Christianity but without any degree of personal commitment and with an attitude of, perhaps, healthy skepticism.
A deeper interest in Christianity developed through his association with the lovely lady who became his wife and her somewhat strict Baptist family background. This led to his eventual conversion to Christianity later in life after much anguish and study, which included completing an Arts degree in appropriate subjects at the Australian National University, attendance at the Tabor Bible College in Melbourne and much private study. Lindsay and his wife and family travel extensively. They have lived in a number of locations in Australia and overseas including periods in Bangkok, Ottawa and Manila. They now visit and holiday with their three married children and seven grandchildren in Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Nowra (NSW). Those visits give Lindsay opportunities to pursue his passion for wider knowledge.
