Michael Morel is a young-at-heart 74 year old, whose Irish blood has mingled with his French ancestry to create a gift for storytelling and a propensity for romance, as well as the bonus of a soaring imagination. In 2002 he attended a full-time course on fairytales at Emerson College, Sussex, where he discovered that hidden information and messages could be passed on through fantasy tales.
He was born in New Zealand in 1934 and has lived in Australia since 1975, with an occasional trip back ‘home’. During one of these visits, which lasted three years, his life took on a new meaning and direction. During the first year of this voluntary holiday in the beautiful Bay of Islands, he concluded his personal twenty-five-year journey in search of the answers to life by learning the art of meditation. After mastering this skill, a new chapter opened in his ‘book of life’ as the creative nature within was released and the Horatio Hope and Clara Compassion stories were born.
Not only a storyteller and professional speaker, Michael also holds the Guinness World Record for speaking: in 1999 he delivered the world’s longest lecture on the subject of ‘life’. He has written Confidence for Life courses for teenagers aimed at enlightening youth as to the workings of the mind, an autobiography, and a book about the mind titled Dickheads and Witches. He has also written a fantasy novel for young readers, The Adventures of Horatio Hope and Clara Compassion.
