Richard Stubbs was born in Liverpool, UK, in the late 1930s; he was the son of a Lancashire coal miner, and he received the basic education standards of the day. He entered the workforce in this busy industrial city when he was just 15-years old. Throughout his life, he's had a passion for anything mechanical; spending most of his adult life restoring old motorcars, motorcycles, tractors and stationary farm engines. He migrated to Australia in early 1969 with his wife and three young children, these days he regards himself more as a transplant, rather than a migrant. A few years ago, for pleasure, he chose to write interesting car and motorcycle articles about the restoration and preservation of Australia's motoring history. He is also a keen musician and artist. My Brother Tom is Richard's first novel.
