Rosemary Duncan was born in Glen Innes NSW, the daughter of a widowed mother. Coming from a poor background, she saw the chance to better herself through education and, with the aid of a scholarship, entered university at the age of sixteen. After graduating with a B.A., Dip.Ed. in Modern Languages, she went on to complete a M.Litt. in French philosophy and literature. After gaining a scholarship to study in France, she spent her career as Head of Department in secondary schools throughout NSW, QLD and Hong Kong.
Rosemary's father was the highly decorated Squadron Leader Charles Curnow Scherf D.S.O., D.F.C. and bar, one of the six aces of WWII. Upon his return from the war, he was killed in a tragic car accident at the age of thirty-two.
Rosemary now lives on a large rural property on the Granite Belt of Queensland where she continues to write.
