I really like this book because it tells of a young girl and her family and pets who lived in a small town called Home Hill, in North Queensland……Belinda Taylor, Year 9, Morayfield SHS, Qld. Finally I can relate to a book! This book has enlightened me and is a book of truth not fiction. It is an interesting read that children can truly understand and it is a very family oriented book. How nice this book is as you read all about the animals. Samantha Nicholls, Year 10, Morayfield SHS, Qld. I found this book thoroughly enjoyable. It seems to bring the past and present together to make a really great book for all ages, even those who aren’t avid animal lovers. It had some exciting and funny highs and lows and helped me to appreciate the lives of animals. The book is something that I can connect with and it is written in plain simple language which everyone can associate with……Hannah Hollis, Year 10, Morayfield SHS, Qld. A light-hearted, thoroughly enjoyable memoir, showing us the early Australian way of life and people’s relationships to each other and the animals around them. A lovely book, hard to put down. When is the next one? Louise Gregory, Burpengary Writers Group,Qld.
