Towards Spiritual Aliveness defines 'aliveness' as a quality which can make life worth living - ultimately, to live a life that brings us peace and a deep sense of satisfaction that we have lived life with a sense of purpose and energy.
This book is also an attempt to reconcile the philosophy of spirituality with academic clinical psychology. The thesis is that if emotional and mental aliveness can be developed, they culminate in spiritual aliveness. This goal can be called 'self-realisation' or 'enlightenment', the ability to live wholly in the 'now? and transcend the 'self' and see the world with more clarity, vision and understanding.
