The author was born in England, Rochdale, Lancashire and was educated in Sale, Cheshire. Impelled by the necessity to start work and frustrated in attempts to obtain a journalism cadetship, he decided to become a commercial traveller in soft goods, joining a trio for friends establishing a furnishing factory. Eventually the business collapsed; the victim of a stock predator.
A change of scene and the realisation of a long time ambition needed; Australia, arriving as a ten pound tourist. He, along with his wife and three children, settled in Sydney where he resumed his commercial career, visiting retailers in country towns.
A move to Western Australia saw the author regularly chartering an aircraft to service eighteen town/mine sites in the north.
The seventies brought more changes, another daughter, his first two fashion stores and a divorce. He hit the jackpot in the eighties with his new wife. Four of her seven daughters still at home ensured a buoyant home life.
With his new dynamic business partner, his wife, the nineties brought a rapid business expansion, building or renovating five large destination stores surrounding Perth.
The noughties have seen the business sold. He also retired to write travel and enjoy time with his wife.
