Katie's father was a bank manager so she had the delight of growing up in grand residences of various country towns in NSW and the inner west of Sydney in the main street. She knew very little of suburbia until adult life.
Upon the completion of high school she studied Earth Sciences at Macquarie University. After teaching in Sydney she then taught in Albury and Ballarat (Vic) for many years. Following that was a period of time in Asia as an ex-pat.
Since then she has lived on the lower north shore of Sydney. In the interim, she has had various careers which have given her great insight and general knowledge into people and life experiences in all walks of life. Combined with her formal training and itinerant childhood and early adult life, she is sure these other professions have encouraged the writing spirit in her.
Her life revolves around her two adult daughters, family and friends. She treasures everyone in her inner circle. She is passionate about lap swimming and surfing.
She now teaches part-time in the area where she lives.
