Moira McCarthy is an Australian teacher and photographer who regularly visits Paris to maintain her passion for French language and culture. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Melbourne, she later gained a Bachelor of Educational Studies from Monash University. Since 1981, Moira has taught History and English in Catholic secondary colleges. In 2005, she achieved the highest level of the Diplôme D?Etudes En Langue Française from the French Ministry of Education.
In 2007, Moira participated in her first International Exposition organised by the Bibliothèque de Géographie at the University of Paris and later that year participated in the Venice International Photo Contest. Since 2007, Moira has received thirty Honourable Mentions from the International Photography Awards and the Prix de Paris, predominantly for her photographs of French and Venetian architecture. More recently in 2012, she has been awarded for her photographs of the bayside, social and sporting landscape of her hometown of Melbourne.
