Trevor Barr is one of Australia's best known writers and commentators on Australia's media and telecommunications. He came to university life after a career in commercial publishing as Publishing Director of Cheshire Publishing, and was subsequently employed by the Commission for the Future and Ericsson Australia. He has been a national media commentator, notably on ABC Radio, AM and PM, presenting regular spots with Terry Lane as well as his television appearances on Four Corners and the 7.30 Report. He is the author of four books published by Penguin, Allen & Unwin, Rigby and Oxford University Press In 2007 he was awarded the Charles Todd medal for 'Communicator of the Year' presented by the Australian Telecommunications User Group. He was the Consumer Co-Chair of the Telstra Consumer Consultative Council (TCCC), an advisory body to Telstra, for six years until 2008. He is now an Emeritus Professor at Swinburne University in Melbourne.
